It covers a wide range of fields within the study of communications, including the basic theory of communications, PR planning, interaction design, and culture in communications. AY20/21 Semester 1 Grading: Tutorial Participation: 10% Mid-Term Exam: 20% (Done on Examplify) Group Project: 30% + 10% Peer Evaluation Final Exam: 30% (Done on LumiNUS Quiz) Lecturer: Prof Natalie Pang Midterm: 10 MCQ and 1 Application Essay Final: 3 Application Essays Group Project: Represent a client to write up a PR plan to address an issue. M: My least enjoyed module last sem, despite me coming in almost fully certain I was going to major in CNM. Lectures were painfully boring, with Prof Nat's enthusiasm in teaching not nearly enough to get N and I to continue attending each lecture live. Certain theories to me were confusing to understand as well (that one week where w

LAK1201 - Korean 1 Review

Taken in: AY20/21 Semester 1 Lecturer: Choi Nuri Tutor: Park Sunwoo Grading: 10% Tutorial participation 10% Vocab quizzes x2 15% Oral quizzes x2 15% Writing assignments x2 25% Midterm 25% Finals It goes to say that learning any new language is always difficult. Having the opportunity to pick up a new language at NUS is a valuable one, but for a language like Korean where everyone that comes in is almost guaranteed to have some form of background knowledge, you definitely have to b e prepared to work hard if you want a decent grade unless you have a spare SU you're ready to sacrifice.  Tests and assignments were all extremely stressful to me, with the cohort's results released for us to compare to. The infamously steep bell curve is definitely not just a myth -- one mistake felt like do or die to me, and every little mark lost really counts. Which is why I cried after my finals when I couldn't concentrate properly and didn't complete the exam in time LOL. The workload is

PL1101E - Introduction to Psychology Review

Taken in: AY20/21 Semester 1 Lecturer: Nina Powell (Dr. P) Grading: 50% Quiz - 6 quizzes, 5 best scores counted 50% Final Exam This is a popular module. I took it as a UE, and I enjoyed it even though it was kind of stressful at times. Dr. P openly stated that she made everything open book, but at the same time, harder, and she wasn't kidding. Take note , this review is with regards to PL1101E as taught by Dr. P. She's a good lecturer, and if you're the type to take a module depending on the lecturer, I highly recommend you go for the one taught by her. I can't say much about other profs but I haven't heard good things from my friends. Dr. P's teaching style is less about grades and more about getting you to think, something I found enjoyable, but may be stressful to others, so your mileage may vary. Lectures As an introduction to Psychology, you'll touch on most of the various areas of study in the field, including

GEH1053 - Film Art and Human Concerns Review

Taken in: AY20/21 Semester 1 Lecturer: Gilbert Yeoh Tutor: Gautam Joseph Grading: 20% Tutorial attendance and participation 20% Midterm Test 25% End-Semester Test 35% Final Essay/Short film Coming into FASS, I had already wanted to pursue a minor in film studies, so I took this module as one of the requirements. This module was also recommended to me by a senior, as I could just watch the films at home, making the most of my home-based learning. No regrets! Lectures In this module, you'll watch a film every week and analyse it the next. You'll also learn about the four aspects of film and how they are used to convey a message. Nothing too technical, I didn't have a background in film nor literature before taking this module. The lectures really make you start to notice things you never noticed before in film, which really changed the way I viewed other films. The films are curated by the instructors, and looking at LumiNUS it

SC1101E - Making Sense of Society Review

Taken in: AY20/21 Semester 1 Lecturer: George Baylon Radics Tutor: Tan Chun Yin Grading: 10% Tutorial attendance and participation 15% Tutorial quizzes (x3) 35% Written assignment: Sociological Imagination and Identity (3.5k words) 40% Take home essays (1k words x4) Took this in my first semester of university because at that time I had thought I was going to have sociology as my second major. Came out knowing I was not going to, but nonetheless I still enjoyed this mod very much. Prof Radics is a fantastic lecturer and puts in a lot of effort in his teaching, making short clips to preface each new week as well as pre-recorded lectures which are kept short and interesting, only having live Q&A sessions meant for students who had questions after watching them.  Despite this, I would say I honestly don't think I learnt much from this module as most information seemed like common sense to me. Because the mod is an exposure mod, it
